Airplane Crash in our First Due
Fri. Feb 17th 2012

Around 1630 hours Powhatan Companies 1, 3, and Powhatan Rescue were dispatched to the report of an airplane crash at the intersection of Rt. 13 and Rt. 609 (Giles Bridge Rd). County Chief 2 was first on scene and found a small aircraft that was block the westbound lane and fuel leaking from the wings. County Chief 2 advised that the pilot was out and not injured. Tanker 1 arrived on scene and stretched a line for fire protection. Squad 4 was added to the call to help the crew with containing the leaking fuel. Crews remained on scene for approximately 8 hours while the aircraft was removed. Rigs on the Assignment: Tanker 1 with 5, Car 1 with 3, Engine 3, Squad 4, County Chief 1, and County Chief 2

Company 1 responded with 19 volunteers
